Nashabandhi Mandal, Gujarat
The original Nashabandhi Mandal was established in the state of Mumbai during the month of October 1958 prior to its division. On 1-5-1960 the division of the state led to the formation of the state of Gujarat. A parallel division was also observed in the Nashabandhi Mandal. Thus, the Nashabandhi Mandal, Gujarat was formed under the presidency of Jugataramabhai Dave. Every year the state government celebrates 2nd-10th of October as the “Nashabandhi week”.
Nashabandhi Mandal awakens the spirit of the work of social uplitment in people, empowers and helps to create awareness in them. The Nashabandhi Mandal of Gujarat supports the states of India and the national associations who are promoting the concept of nashabandhi. The uptake of this concept as a social event by the society along with the co-operation of the government can make this program a complete success.
Many organizations, countless people and the members of Kalyanyatra have extended their support to the Nashabandhi Mandal. The mandal heartily thanks those who have accepted nashabandhi as a dutiful activity.
MESSAGE FROM THE FATHER OF THE NATION
The secret behind the success of human life is the efficient use of time. It is the most precious treasure of mankind. Mahatma Gandhiji was a visionary. He said that, “ Even if I am to be the head of the country for a second, the first thing that I would do is to close down all the hubs of alcohol. I can bear it if the country becomes extremely poor but I can’t bear the sight of thousands of drunk-men roaming the country.”
Except destruction there is no hope from a state that is a slave to alcoholism. People who have become slaves to the bad habit need help against their own wish to overcome it.
