Description

In the latter part of the twentieth century, like minded Sikh residents of an urban neighborhood of Ludhiana, envisioned opening of a hospital for the lesser fortunate members of society. They collected a sum of Rs.8400 through “Larriwaar Kirtans” and started a charitable dispensary in the name of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib. The then Chief Minister of Punjab, Giani Zail Singh allotted 4000 square yards of land for building a hospital and Sh. Dev Raj Urs, the then Chief Minister of Karnataka donated a generous amount for expanding the dispensary into a hospital, which now proudly stands as Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib (C ) Hospital.

(B) The hospital commenced operations on 29th October 1978 under the guidance of Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib (C) Hospital Society. With the dedicated and determined efforts the society’s Founder President Bakshi Mohinder Singh and executive members of the managing committee, the dispensary segued into a general hospital with all the clinical specialties. Headed by Bakshi Amardeep Singh Ji, the present management consists of educationists, humanitarians and visionaries, whose purpose is to serve the fellow men with all humility and passion. Standing tall in a four storey complex, supported by the constant efforts of 50 doctors and 300 para medical staff, the hospital boasts of state-of-the-art facilities which are available for the care and comfort of its patients.

From a hospital which started serving with 22 beds, it has grown substantially in terms of infrastructure and services offered. It is now a 195 beds multi-specialty hospital which delivers commendable service with the help of latest technology in medical- science. With an annual budget of approximately 14 crores, the hospital is dispensing quintessential services towards creating a healthy and disease free society, thus fulfilling it’s aim of sarbat da bhala. The hospital provides high quality medicare for privileged patients and at the same time offers charitable services for economically weaker sections of society.

The institute has been permitted by the Indian Medical Council to admit doctors for Internship and House Job. Also because of the reliable and trustworthy reputation of the hospital, students from various institutes come here to get clinical training as per their schedule.

Following the teachings of a Guru who laid his life for saving a religion that was not his own, and under the guidance of mentors who practice and preach a secular way of life, the hospital has become an inspiration in offering healthcare without any prejudice and favoritism.

(C) Adhering to the core philosophy of valuing human life above all, the hospital is continuously raising the bar of health care by providing personal attention and moral support needed for the well being of the patients and their families.
